Over the last 17 years, Open Studios North Fife has established itself as a key event in Fife’s Cultural Calendar. When we collaborated with Lucy Turner and Alison Strachan with the formation of Open Studios North Fife we didn’t think it for would lead to receiving the first ever Create in Fife Award for Outstanding Contribution in 2013.
Objective
To invite the general public to visit local Fife artists, designers and makers into their studios on a weekend in May.
Solution
Using the website, brochure and posters, the key was to emphasis the art, the studio locations with directions and local points of interest. We brought the excitement of the event by allowing the wide variety of the artists styles and media be the focus of the design. Imagery was casually offset to reflect the informal friendly setting of the studios. The brochure was structured geographically which would help any visitor navigate all the studios they might which to visit over the weekend. We originally launched this in 2005, and 15 years later still working with Open Studios North Fife our work has helped see this grow to become a community event over three days with many studios receiving over a hundred visitors each day over the weekend.
